Gigabyte Send New Boards For RMAs?

How does Gigabyte and most motherboard companies work, do they send new boards out for RMAs or refurbished boards?

Can't speak specifically for Gigabyte but I RMA'd an ASUS P5K Deluxe about a year ago and got a previously RMA'd board shipped back to me. This cycle continued for months and once I was finally on the phone with their top tier support he told me the first returns were simply checked to POST then boxed and sent out. If they came back again they started digging a little deeper. After 7 boards I was sent a new one, number 7 had a aftermarket heat sink bracket adhered to the back of it. Gigabyte might be different but I don't even bother RMA'ing to ASUS anymore and after my 4850 failed pretty much stopped buying ASUS at least for the time being.

This is becoming more common in the industry. At work, a SUN engineer admitted to me that server motherboards need to be RMA'ed three times before they will no longer be sent to customers. Sounds horrible, but is also probably a consequence of too many RMAs from customers unwilling to troubleshoot hardware properly.

If you paid for all 7 RMA then wasted more than MOB itself, or ASUS got RMA for FREE ?

Had to pay shipping in each way so yes it got to be about half the boards original cost but these boards were no longer available and we have several machines in the office that use them. I was instructed to get it resolved in order to have a backup on hand so it wasn't anything to me except a hassle....which was enough.

What about EVGA ? Does it charge for RMA for it's Lifetime supported motherboards?
Looking for good x58 mobo and can't decide go with EVGA E758-A1 because of LT support or buy another one, like Gigabyte GA-EX58-UD5 .

EVGA doesn't charge for RMA but you pay for it up front when you don't know if it's necessary. It's kind of like an insurance policy. Obviously you wouldn't want a situation where something goes wrong with your board, but when something goes wrong EVGA's RMA process is relatively painless.

What do you mean? Manuracturer price or there is some additional charges from EVGA when you buy EVGA E758-A1 for sample($280) ?

Almost every one sends back hardware that is Not New.

The difference is what they did with the "Pre-Owned" Hardware.

Some vendors really make sure that the RMA works, other play games.

Abit use to be good about the RMA, alas it is gone.

Gigabyte varies.

The worse is View Sonic with LCD Monitors, they would find any excuse in the Universe Not to honor their Guarantee.

The truth is that it is your call, there is nothing that you can do about it beside trying.
