Gigabyte RMA is awesome!

So I had a computer issue a few months back, and my motherboard and video card were damaged somehow. I quickly swapped the motherboard with another ASUS model (the damaged one was the A7N8X-E, or something to that effect), but the video card, a Gigabyte, started acting weird, too. I finally swapped that out and then decided to RMA both under warranty.

Gigabyte's process was very straightforward, and I received information on where and how to send it immediately. They even had a way to check on their website for the status. The replacement showed up in the mail today. The amazing part is that I bought the card in Japan, but they didn't blink when I put in for warranty service. Fixed it without question.

ASUS, on the other hand, wasn't as easy. I submitted a request for an RMA then received an email requesting additional information. I also bought that part in Japan, but they didn't question that part in the return email. Well, I sent them the additional information, but I have YET to hear back from them on the RMA process (I haven't pushed, admittedly).

So, good going to Gigabyte -- they've earned some loyalty from me. ASUS -- I regret replacing my damaged board with another of your products. :|

I just RMA'd an ASUS board and I will agree with you that their RMA is kinda crappy.

For starters, I couldn't even find a tech support number on their website. The only number I found was for laptop support. Luckily, I had the mobo manual which had the number in it.

So I call them and I get it setup and I mail it to them. I believe they received it on October the 17th. They said the process would take 5-10 days in an email, so I espexted it to take maybe 15 days max.

There is no place to check your RMA status at their website. If you want an RMA status check, you have to call their RMA department (which usually means about 5-10 minutes on hold). If I hadn't called them at all, I would never have any idea what was going on with my mobo. I'm not saying they should call you and tell you, but being able to check online would be really nice.

The one thing that I especially didn't like was the inaccuracy of their info. The board arrived at my house Noveber 18th, which is 1 day short of a month for the entire process. The week before that, I called them (I think it was thursday) and they said the board was going to be shipped and they'd give me a tracking number when it did ship. I expected it on Monday. Nothing on moday, so I called them, and they said it was in shipping and should ship within a day or two. Called em on wednesday, and they said it was still in shipping. Called on Friday, and they said the board had already arrived at my house (I'm here at college so I wasn't there myself), and only then did I get my tracking number (over the phone, never got the number in my email).

Asus has some good products here and there, but they need to up their service some.

I had three Abit boards in a row die on me about 5 years ago. I avoid those and MSI for the same reason. :)
