I'm planning to get the low-end P55 microATX board from Gigabyte when it becomes available, unless another reputable manufacturer makes a competitively priced board. I don't plan on doing any crossfire stuff out of the gate, but the board has two PCIe x16 slots. However, in the recent preview on Anandtech, they said "The board does support CrossFireX operation although we highly recommend against this setup as the second PCIe x16 slot is actually an x4 electrical slot running off the P55 chipset." I don't understand what that means? is it just limited bandwidth so weak CF performance?

basically, you would be better off buying a card that costs twice as much out the door than trying to CF on a board with an x4 slot as the secondary
