gigabyte P35 mb memory

I'm looking at buying a the gigabyte p35-ds3p board. However the qualified memory seems extremely limitted.

They do not have any memory DDR2 800 in a 4 gig kit. And only Samsung and Nanya memory for DDR2 667.
How important is sticking to this list?

I was hoping to buy this memory for the board:

has anyone used either of these memory kits with a gigabyte p35 board? Has anyone used memory not on thier list? If so what happened?

Are the asus memory options this limitted?

Pretty sure that will work. I used Mushkin XP2-8500 on my GA-P35-DQ6 and it wasn't on the list and it was fine...
