So I have these two boards and have been out of the Intel loop since...I don't remember when...lol

I will not be running SLI ever...i just dont believe in two cards.

of the two mentioned boards....Gigabyte P35-DS3L or Asus P5N32-E sli, which should I use for highest overclocking performance and the least hiccups?

You believe in 2 cores why not two cards? (serious question)

Pick the Gigabyte P35 board if you don't really care about SLI.

hi, thanks for the input.

to answer ur first question, yes i believe in two (or four) cores but packaged into one single form factor (not two separate physical chips), which is why i have a 3870x2 but not two separate 3870's xfired

so with two of these mobos already in my possession, so cost isnt a factor...u'd still suggest the p35? why?

E6600@3400 on a P35-DS3L ,2GB Ballistix, EVGA 8800 GTX@615 1000, OCZ PowerStream520 SLI

Had my e6600 run 3dmark @3800 in 680i on and off 18 months.
When i put it in P35-DS3L i had to cut back to 3450 to be stable.
After 2 months my evga680i is more stable then P35-DS3L.
For maxium 3d mark oc i say 680i.
For a mediun oc 24 7 use i say P35-DS3L.
DS3L seems to lack basic mem settings
Not much extra mem voltage either.
I am a t2.150v with only i step left to raise.

Don't need SLI, then why not get the P5E. It is best ASUS board I have had so far, haven't tried to OC yet though.

The P35/X38/X48 chipsets are just as good as Nvidia 780/790i, I just seem to find that the Intel chipsets play nicer with the rest of your components. Not that the 7xx series are slouches because when they work they work quite well.

I on the other hand have a DS3L and want SLI =/

but none of these SLI boards seem to support my DDR2 8500 =/

damn, i shoulda posted up a FT cuz i got the SLI board first then decided maybe i should get a board with the p35 chipset just in case!

I would recommend the
Gigabyte P35-DS3L with the E8400
just because in my house we have 2 with mine running 4.0 on the stock cooler for about a month and a half doing 100% load for F@H and have not had a problem

My friend has Gigabyte P35-DS3L with the E8400 and we got his up to 4 on the stock but the temps were pushing it at 70º so we got him the the AC 7 Pro and he is at 3.2GHz

My dads office machine is running 3.7 on stock cooler also doing 100% load on F@H

All with the Gigabyte P35-DS3L and the E8400
