I am looking at motherboards for the new A64 socket 754 3000+ processor and Gigabyte is one that has popped up on my radar screen, but oddly enough, they don't show up on "My AnandTech System Rigs Stats" which list the following:

ABIT: 473
AOPEN: 204
ASUS: 5222
IWILL: 540
MSI: 4038
Tyan: 1847

I know they are in Tw (who isn't):D and among the larger MB companies. The reviews I have read seem mostly neutral with not a lot of "bad" or "good". Does anyone here have any first hand experience with this brand?

I own an 8knxp (rev 1) for P4's, and love it. Never had any problems whatsoever. I personally think their quality is great, although like most companies, BIOS updates are sometimes slow / crappy.

I know a local shop here that dumped Asus and now only offers Gigabyte boards because of all the problems they had with returned mobos from some of Asus implementations (most notably the infamous SIS chipsets).

Anyway, think you'll be pleased.

Gigabyte boards do not OC as well as some of the more commonly used ones by the members on this site.

I have used 2 in particular over the past year or so the 8Ihxp (850) and a 8IPE1000 pro (865) for about a dozen builds. They are rock stable and never had a problem with either of these.

From what I have read the Asus K8V Deluxe is the one you may want to scope out in detail.

Thanks sumrtym & tallman45,

I like the sound of "rock solid". Truth is, I don't have much experience overclocking, but I do read about, and put stock in, the abilities of a board. I figure if a board can be overclocked it will be more solid in the default setup. Of course as the boards get easier to OC, I may get sucked in.

Right now I am zeroing in on Soyo, MSI, Gigabyte, and Asus. I have had several MSI board(s), and they have been fine, but as things evolve I always like to explore............................It is hard for some of us to just sit still and do nothing.:D
