Gigabyte mobo claims "Unknown Processer"

I have a Gigabyte 7DX+ mobo that has the bios from 5/31/2002 which should definately handle a AMD XP1700 processer. When it boots up it reads the proper 1466 Mghz. but claims "unknown cpu type" right next to that.

Here are my settings: yes, the switch is over for 133 bus speed. I tried 100 bus speed too. The DIP switch is set for automatic. I tried overclocking it a tad with the DIP switch but still "unknown cpu type".
I've tried 2 types of 256 DDR ram pc2700 .

I see no need to flash the BIOS as it is the second most recent on the Gigabyte website.
It reconized the previous 850 Duron just fine. What gives?

Maybe the board's BIOS handles "Palomino" XP processors but not today's "Thoroughbred" ones. Wouldn't be the only one.

Peter, You probably hit it right on the head. Since this is a older mobo this is the answer. There were no such cpu's at the time of mfg. .
Good thing though, the system seems to work just fine. Thanx for all your help. Weber
