Hello to you all from holland,
this is my first post here.
I am planning on buying a Gigabyte ma770t-ud3.
Although many say it's outdated, it has everything I need, so no problem with that.
There's one catch however when it comes to the unlock features.
In all the 770 manuals of gigabyte boards, dated mid 2010, the crucial EC firmware option is missing.
In 2009 there are many positive unlock attempts with GA 770's, in 2010 they are nowhere to be found.
Can it be that the bios has downgraded? I somehow can't imagine.
When for some reason Gigabyte has unabled this option on the 770 boards there are two other attractive 870 boards in the same price range:
the Msi 870-G54 and the Asrock 870icafe.
There are 2 "but's" with these boards, the MSI is a demo version from which is claimed that only the box has been opened, tested 100% ok. The store has a very good reputation however so I would buy it without hesitation.
From the Asrock, about the iCafe no test results about overclocking or reviews in general can be found.
So what to do with this?
Could gigabyte have removed the unlock features?
And would there be an advantage to choose for the 870 versions from MSI or Asrock?
As far as features are concerned, all these board are already overdimendioned for what I need so it has to come down to other things like overclock perfermance, stability issues or other non-feature preferences.
My response might come late by the way, it is past midnight here (Amsterdam) and a bed seems attractive right now.
