I can't get windows to load using RAID. I set up the array first on the SiI controller then on the Nvidia controller. Windows would get to starting to load windows after all the drivers loaded. It would hang there for quite a while then I got a stop error. Something about windows stoped the install to keep from damaging the computer. Yada yada.

The person I am building this for didn't buy a floppy so I made a cd to load the drivers in text mode and I thought that might be causing it. So I put in my ls120 and did an F6 and loaded the drivers that way. I tried it on both controllers with the exact same result.

I did a little searching of the forums and thought it might be memory so I pulled a stick with no help.

So I am sitting here and saying WTH do I rma. Well I just cabled it up one of the drives to the primary controller. Anyhow I fired it up and I finally got to the select drive for install screen. The screen I spent all evening yesterday trying to get to.

I am at a loss. Any suggestions on how I can install windows on an array? I thought about installing on an extra drive I have and then see if I can set up the array and get windows to detect and install drivers then ghost to the array. My problem is I have only used ghost a couple of times and I seem to recall that ghost didn't recognize my array when I tried to do it a while back. (It has been a while);)

Other componets and setup.
ATI AIW 8500
2 Maxtor 160GB with SIIG sata adapters
Samsung DVDrom
BenQ DVD burner
I had both dvds hooked to the secondary controller when I was trying to get the install to work on the sata controller. Would that make a difference? Leaving the primary empty that is. I have never had that problem before.

Thanks

Edit- Forgot to put down the RAM. 2 512 sticks of ddr400 kingston value ram from the HD forums.

Well for the most part it worked on the single drive. I used my slipstreamed unattended install disk. I just went through the welcome setup and added a user but was unable to log on. I tried to get in as administrator but the password I put in the unattended file wouldn't work. UG :|

Oh well too late to fiddle with it now.

Edit: Just in case someone else has this problem. It turned out to be a bad stick of memory. I ran 12 hours of prime 95 on the good stick with no errors. On the Kingston value ram that is.
