Gigabyte K8NSC problems with SATA

Okay, here's the problem, everytime I plug in my SATA (Maxtor 300GB) into the mobo, the systems runs really slow. CPU activity is up at 80-100% at all times. I cannot access the drive, it says I have some I/O Device error.

The drive runs fine on my other computer (MSI K8N Neo)

I tried installing all the latest drivers and I updated the bios, still no luck.

One of my friends suggested enabling SATA Primary Master RAID. But when i did this, windows didn't recognize the drive at all.

Please help!!

Thanks so much, what a headache that was. Is this just an issue for Nforce 3? because I had the IDE drivers installed for my Nforce 4 board and it was fine.
