Gigabyte K8NF-9 SATA ports locked?

Friend and I had an issue overclocking his Athlon 3000 last night. Managed to corrupt the Windows folder and a portion of the directory structure. I posted another thread on the problem and the consensus was SATA issues. Does anyone know if the ports on this board are speed locked? His drive was on SATA0.

Man, whatever happened to trial and error? If a pair of channels doesnt work, try the other pair (in this case SATA2 & 3). If it doesnt work then you have your answer.

Whatever happened in this case is: I had to leave to go home, and so I'm trying to gather some information for the next time I visit.
