Gigabyte K8NF-9 audio problems

I?ve got some issues with my K8NF-9 MB. I can?t seem to get the audio to work at ALL. Gigabytes auto audio configuration program comes up and finds the speakers but I can never get any sounds to come out of them. I have tried several types of headsets and speakers but still nothing.

Has anyone seen anything like this? The AC97 audio driver is loaded and everything seems cool (OS and programs are happy) but I get not audio.

So sad.

Are you using the analog or digital outputs to your speakers? I know you said that you tried headphones but did you try and bring up the volume in the control panel? If your using the analog output, did you use the correct output jack (green)? Hey..not trying to be a SA..just helping out!

I have only been using the analog audio connector on the back (light green colored connector). I have also turned up or on every audio control panel I can think of. This is rather weird.

I also just found out my USB ports (all 10 of them) are only showing up as USB 1.1 ports not 2.0... not sure if that is related.

have you tried removing from device manager and reinstalling?

I'm not sure which device manager that is? The Gigabyte "Sound Effect Manger"?

Did you install Windows SP2? Did you run the Gigabyte CD-ROM after SP2 and do an express install?

The XP Pro install I have came with SP2. This drives were completely wiped before starting windows install. I did install of the of nVidia drivers after XP was installed.

Connect any front panel audio connections to your mobo and try testing it there.
The sound worked fine on mine although it took 20 minutes to plug in all the friggin audio connectors. Make sure you did plus them all in.

Hello
I have the same motherboard and with winxp sp2 installed. I had exactly the same problem with exactly the same symptoms.
I went to Realtek's website and installed the latest driver for Ac'97 codec and it now works.
Here is a link to the download page:
http://www.realtek.com.tw/downloads/dla...neid=5&famid=12&series=8&Software=True

Download the windows xp driver (version A3.69 from Feb 2005).
It solved my problem -straight away the jack was recodnised and now working.

Hope this helps.
Ash
