Hello All, I'm a newbie to the forums, was reffered here by a friend who said I might be able to find some help.

Specs:
Athlon 64 3200+
Gigabyte K8N Pro
GeiL 2x512mb PC3200 value RAM w/ heat spreader
GeForce FX 5600 Ultra
seagate 120 gb 7200 rpm SATA

Problem:
I bought two of these sticks of RAM (http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProductDesc.asp?description=20-144-305&depa=1) from newegg, and I put them in my system together in slots 1 and 2. I had problems even installing windows without it locking up. It took about 2 days to realize it was the RAM, I took one stick out and it worked fine (I tried 2 sticks in different slot combinations with no progress). I ran with 512 RAM while returning the other stick thinking it was just bad. I bought another of the same kind, so back to two sticks now. I put it in the computer and loaded up an online FPS game, and it freezes when I start to play. Tried different games, still freezes. Then, I experience other problems, locking up trying to press ctrl+alt+delete. So I took the stick back out, before I return the RAM yet again (not to buy another this time though) are there any suggestions on how I might get it to work with 1 gig of ram (2 sticks of 512)? The thought came to my mind that maybe i need dual channel RAM, but I checked my manual and the website and it says nothing about requiring dual channel.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Thanks a bunch,
Paul
