Gigabyte K8 triton hard freeze up

120 gig Maxtor Hard drive
160 gig western digital hard drive
17in crt phillips

current system and its freezing up and locking up. Video card and all compoents work fine in my old AMD 2600 xp system so I am guessing the motherboard but before I RMA it any ideas on things I can try? and its a HARD crash system freezes and I have to cold boot it.
