Hello,

Been a long time since I've been on here !

So my question is..

I ended up picking up Gigabyte HD 7950 over the weekend with bios f42 installed. 900mhz & 1250 mem speed.

Apparently the board is not compatible with the f3 bios, which bumps the speed to 1000mhz (speed boost) and 1250mhz for memory. I tired to install f3 bios from the gigabyte site and it would not work. "Bios update failed" using their software.

I tested the 7970 bios with atiflash that is altered to work on this card and worked excellent except no HDMI !

Decided to flash the card with atiflash with f3 anywise and it works excellent. Ran 3dmark11 a few times and no issues.

My question is, am I going to damage the card using gigabyte f3 bios ? Apparently Gigabyte told another user that the PCB or components is slightly different? I smell BS, but at the same time don't want to corrupt the bios.

thoughts ?

I also would recomend software OC/OV if possible. Not sure if the card is voltage locked or not, with luck, you will go far with a small voltage increase.

I'm not worried about OCing the card as I had no issues running it at 1100/1500 with the 7970 bios.

I am just trying to get some clarification on using the f3 gigabyte bios on my GV-R795WF3-3GD which came with f42 installed.

The card is running fine, I am just asking if it is possible a bios can get corrupt over time when using a bios not recommended even though its the same model of card.
