the 3TB drive is connected to the eSATA portion SATA portion of the motherboard [H55n USB3] Acronis 11 Disc Director for Windows 7 64bit and even Windows 7 64 Bit >>>> Manage Drives still show as a 2.00TB drive instead of 2.7-2.8+ drive. What is the problem if the drivers has been updated. Using Windows 7 64 Bit with SP1. The PC can see the drive [not formatted yet] but as the complete size. As a result of that I had not updated nor formatted the drive in case if I do so it will be only 2TB only. Suggestions?

In order to use a drive larger than 2 TB, you will need an operating system that can partition and format that drive. Windows 7, Vista, Windows XP (64-bit), Mac OSX 10.4.x (Tiger), Mac 10.5.x (Leopard), and Mac OSX 10.6.x (Snow Leopard) all have this capability through the GUID Partitioning Table (GPT). The GUID partitioning scheme has the ability to partition both internal and external drives far beyond 2 TB's in size.

You may have to format it first using Windows 7.

I'm using two Hitatchi 5K3000 (3TB) drives in my rig, one on ICH8R Intel controller and one on the JMicron eSATA port, both were detected fine in Windows 7 Pro x64 without issue.

Do you have all the Windows 7 updates installed? There is a hotfix which also fixes the issue (also part of SP1 I believe). Format the drive as GPT not MBR (assuming it is a data drive since in eSATA). Mine are both one large partition.

Is the H55 even a UEFI capable bios?
Or does it need a workaround?

I don't think it's UEFI enabled, BUT you can easily format and use the 3TB as 3TB in Win7 x64 in a NON-UEFI mobo. The problem only comes when you try to boot off a 3TB drive, this requires a UEFI compatible mobo.
