Hello fellas,

I am interested in the Gigabyte G1 Gaming Variant of the GTX970 but I am unsure if it will be able to work with my current pc.

I currently have (the relevant components to a card)

AsRock Extreme 4 Gen 3 Z68 motherboard
i5-2500K CPU
FSP Gold 80+ 750W PSU.

I've been reading a few forums and seeing that the GTX900 series doesn't work with the Z68 chipsets. What do you guys think? will there be any incompatibility issues with this?

In principle, there is no reason for any conflict between GTX 900 series and Z68. The motherboard doesn't care what the graphics card is as long as there's a PCIe 2.0/3.0 x16 slot to put it in.

However, if there is some real incompatibility issue there, I'm pretty sure it only affects a small minority of users and even then there must be a workaround, like updating the motherboard BIOS. It only takes a small minority for something like this to pop up in google, because what you don't see in google is all those reports of GTX 970 working just fine on Z68.

As long as you have the latest bios update for your motherboard there should be no reason that a GTX 970 shouldn't work in your system.

Rocking the Evga GTX970 in my 2500K/Z68 Gaming rig... never a problem.

If I were to guess, with those having problems, it boils down to drivers and/or old mobo BIOS.

This. 2500k, ASUS P8Z68-V Pro/Gen3, and EVGA GTX 970 here. No issues.
