I've heard that a lot of the gigabyte coolers come with crappily applied thermalpaste, so you'll probably get better temps if you take the cooler off and reapply the TIM.
Assumptions yes, but not baseless. Larger/more heatsinks tend to give better cooling performance, and you can't put much more fins on a cooler than the Schooner does. And since most active aftermarket coolers are cheaper than passive ones, there's no reason to assume that a card that has such passive cooling out of the box is cheaper than if it had active. Plus it's a rarity, which means they can easily get away with charging a bit of extra for it.Originally posted by: Operandi
First; this is a stock cooling solution, comparing it to any aftermarket cooler doesn?t make much sense. Second; since both price and performance are unknown so you're making baseless assumptions.
Assuming that it's put together correctly this looks like a very good solution for those that don't feel comfortable with aftermarket GPU heatsinks.
