Hello anandtech forums, I have a question for you.
I recently put together my first build, and I have a question regarding the above mentioned motherboard. The motherboard does not seem to have setting to change vcore, is there anyway to override that? It's no where in the BIOS, and EasyTune6 didn't have the option. Is there some software which can help or am I stuck? The mobo seems to have an auto oc setting but with my i5-2500k I can't get higher than 4.3GHz with a hyper 212+ cooler. The only possible solution I have found would be to flash the BIOS to F10 (I'm on F4), but I am reluctant to flash because of previous BIOS flashing adventures. Changing DVID had no effect, the system would still BSOD at 4.4GHz and crash on boot at 4.5GHz. Would enabling LLC help? If so, which option should I choose as the mobo is set to auto but offers standard, level one and level two modes. Thanks for any help!

As has been said a few times now; on 1155 boards it is inadvisable to control the vcore directly. Overclocking is achieved by setting the "stock" VCORE for idle and then using the "dynamic offset" feature to increase the vcore at load. That is how people have chips idle @ .81v yet load to 5Ghz @ 1.45v etc. Try reading some reviews/guides for tips.

EDIT: When you say DVID had no effect, what settings did you try? please elaborate.

I set the multiplier to x45 then gradually increased the DVID from its default value of 0.000v in 10mA increments. I kept going untill I was at +0.110v. Despite this, the computer would crash shortly after post everytime. I was reluctant to go higher because I was afraid I might damage the CPU. Should I go higher?

Sorry to resurrect an old thread, but I have the same problem and there was never a concrete answer in this thread.

I need to know how to modify the CPU voltage. I have no option in BIOS to do that.

Here's the thing... I have the mATX mate to your board. It is not a good overclocker... period. I've only been able to get my 2500K to 4.2GHz after much effort, and that is with chip temps in the high '80'sC. I put my chip in an Asus Maximus board, I went to 4.3GHz with lower temps... without even trying to tweak the settings.

Do NOT fool with EasyTune6, it overclocks partially by using the BCLK... which you shouldn't do with Sandy onward.

I found the key to getting a stable OC with good temps is undervolting in the BIOS, and then slowly raising the multiplier until you BSOD. Go in, bump the voltage up, and then start raising the multiplier again. The highest I got my BCLK was 100.3 before system crashes, so I don't recommend going there.

What are you using to monitor your CPU voltage? There is a utility in ET6 that is very good for that... do not use CPUID, it incorrectly reports vCORE.

I'm currently running a 4.1GHz OC with an undervolt... it's been stable for 2+ years. All I think I have adjusted is the multiplier and the voltage offset (-.070) ... although I can go in and look if you want.

The thing is, I do not see a setting in my BIOS to adjust the voltage... Its not there.

I'm on F10 BIOS, so YMMV...

Enter BIOS... make first selection...

Advanced Voltage Settings...

Dynamic vCore...
