going to get GIGABYTE GA-P35-DS3R and Intel Core 2 Duo E6600 to overclock and just wanted to make sure there was not any particular brand/timing or anythign that did not work with this combination.

EDIT: if at all possible i am just going to turn up the FSB to overclock and not mess witht he multiplier and volts if i can avoid it. so if value ram will work just fine in this combination that thats great.

I wouldn't get value ram because regular or performance ram is pretty affordable right now.

With the 6600 you can turn up the FSB to 333 from 266 and still run 800mhz ram, so value ram would be okay, but better ram would give you more overclocking flexibility. It really depends on how much you want to get out of your overclock. Personally I wouldn't cheap out on the ram since your getting a good motherboard and cpu.
