Building a new PC as a Christmas gift for the GF, everything went smoothly, but this mobo intermittently won't recognized the HDD or DVD-RW drives (both SATA) during boot up. So have to shut it down, unplug and replug the cables then it would recognized the drives again.

When it does recognized the drives, everything work perfectly. This is so frustrating since I doubt there will be enough time before Xmas to get RMA if the board is defective.

System (non-overclock):
Gygabyte GA-P35-DS3L with F7 BIOS
E6600
Antec Eartwatts 500
BFG 8800GT
2GB Crucial Ballistic
Seagate 500GB SATA HDD
Samsung SH-S2-03N DVD-R

i feel your pain, i'm dealing with much the same thing with an abit ip35 pro of a friend's build that i recently did for him.

the boot sequence gets changed every few days between the different SATA ports. frustrating as hell since it happens seemingly at random.

have you tried flashing the bios or doing a deep CMOS clear?

Remove power from the system.
Hit the power switch to discharge all capacitors.
Set CMOS jumper to clear.
Remove battery.
Let it sit for 30min.
Put battery back in & set CMOS jumper to the normal position.
Power up and immediately enter BIOS.
Load Optimized Defaults.
Save & exit.

Did some more testing and apparently the mobo will have issue with detecting the drives if I change anything in the BIOS then save & exit.

So now I'm just going to find a stable overclocking speed (aiming for a modest 3GHz), then have the mobo successfully detect the drives and never touch BIOS again.
