GIGABYTE GA-P35-DS3L LGA 775 Intel P35 ATX vs. ASUS P5K LGA 775 Intel P35.

I have narrowed it down to these 2 mobo's which are remarkably similar. I have had a good experience with Asus so far, but this is the highest rated on new-egg (what ever that is worth).

I'm going to put a Q6600 with 4GB of Corsair Dominator, a raptor and 2 seagate 7200.10 (non-raid)

Any thoughts,

JOe K.

There basically the same. I have only used ASUS so far but the Gigabyte was the highest reviewed on new egg. I just looking for other decisive factors.

Thanks for the input,

ok well then here is why i chose this board: had the optical audio out i NEEDED (it has a digital coax as well), cost me less than 100 canadian before tax, did not have the ridiculous options i would never use and over pay for right now anyway, supported 45nm e8400 out of the box (although i still flashed to the latest bios and surprisingly saw an actual improvement)

just keep an eye on the revision version of the Motherboard, the ga-p35-ds3l has Rev 1.0 and 2.0, the difference is that the later version has like 2 or 4 cant remember extra usb ports on the back and thats it...might as well go for that one

i did have a problem with the realtech hd audio driver...had to reinstall XP because something was conflicting and i had no sound - it would not even let me uninstall the driver...do not use the DVD for this driver, get it from realtec's site

Also i had to replace my board after 3 days but thats myu fault as i chnged the wrong voltage setting in bios and it would reboot and shut down and turn on every 3 seconds. could nto flash the bios even then...

but after all i am happy with it, it uses all solid capacitors and there has been some fuss made about the power circuit for the CPU...

oh yeah and its a great overclocker i think thats why its very popular

Thanks, I will definitely take a look at the bios revisions that is a good idea. i think while I'm at it ill check and see if there are any unresolved issues with either model.
