I know this was not a great idea, but i decided to fool around and use the @bios utility. Not a great idea now as my computer will not boot, and when i start it two short beeps sound, then nothing. I know this means cmos error, so i tried to reset the cmos, but nothing has happened. I am not able to view anything, yet i know the motherboard has power because the fans work. I tried taking everything out, ram, HDs, and just try to boot. still nothing happens. I figure i have messed up the cmos settings and bios, so what i was wondering was how to reset all of this.

any help would be great!

Alex

Oh well, this worked on a half price 'oem' mb from an etailer once.

Even though I've occasionally used the manufacturer's windows bios utils (except asus), I've never bricked a mb *keeps fingers crossed* - so don't know the exact circumstances when it happens, ie- if the fans spin anyway, ...

I have a faint recollection about the two beep bios code being reassigned by a manufacturer - searched a little but couldn't find it. But then again, if the bios is bricked, there might be random or no beep codes.

I know that some chips with some form of memory can be 'shocked' into acting right by applying some voltage to them - but don't know any details.

I'd start searching - this forum and others including the mb manufacturer's forums.

Try it again one more time this way...

-- Make sure to discharge yourself by touching a grounded surface on your computer.

-- Disconnect the PSU from the motherboard.

-- Remove the motherboard battery.

-- Using your finger tips, rubbing them lightly over the Battery socket, over and around the BIOS, be careful not to cut yourself.

-- Your finger tips have ~3MO impedance, they should discharge any left over residue power in less than 30 seconds.

-- Put Battery and PSU back in, power back up, and check for BIOS post.

I have the same motherboard and found removing the battery did not help. There are 2 pins on the board after the last PCI slot. If you short these that should clear the settings you have made. Check the manual to find the pins. I had to do this a few times when overclocking mine.

If you are still having no luck them remove all the RAM and replace only one of them. Make sure all cards have been removed. Make sure the P4 CPU power connector is connected. Make sure there are no USB devices connected. Still no luck then try some of the other RAM. If none of that works then the fault is one of: the CPU, the motherboard, all the RAM, or the PSU.

I think it's the bios that produces the beeps.

You might be able to find an open box replacement on newegg. Open box items are usually missing a lot but that would be fine in your case.

2) connect the 24 pin ATX and the other 4 pin 12v both to mother board put in cpu with HSF , connect monitor to onboard video put in single stick memory on slot one ( slot close to cpu ) connect a PS2 keyboard
3) power system on check if system boots ok pressing the delete key go into bios setting select load fail-safe defaults first then select load optimized defaults press F10 save setup exit check check if system restart and boots ok , if system still has problem to boot swap out other stick memory check again this can help to find out if one of the memory was not stable cause issue .
