Problem
Machine assembled about 2 years ago. I think since I built it, it will not boot up every time. About half of the time, I hear the fans and everything powering up but no beep and no post. After a few power cycles everything comes up and works fine. Once it does boot, it runs very reliably. I don't recall any crashes in 2 years.

I'm now wanting to upgrade to Window 7. Before I do upgrades with RAM, HD, etc I would like to figure out the issue to why it will not post all the time.

Things I checked
I have wondered if I had a memory issue. I have run the memtest86 multiple times and always came up fine. I checked my memory timing and it matches what is called for by the factory 5-5-5-12. I checked my memory voltage, it called for 1.9V and I only had it set to 1.8V. I upped it +.1 but that didn't help. Still doesn't post all the time.

I think it has to be either the PS, mobo, or memory but I hate to just start replacing components with no idea what the issue is. Anyone have some suggestions?

Is their any way I can test the one I have first?

I don't mind buying another, I just fear taking shots in the dark. I could end up spending more money on this machine to fix it than to just buy another. I been thinking it has to be the PS, Mobo, or Memory.

try a friend's PS.

try your ram in a friend's PC. Or, conversely, try a friend's ram in yours.
