Gigabyte GA-K8NXP-SLI - Info
Thermalright XP-120 - Info
Panaflo FBA12G12M

It says that all Gigabyte boards need their metal backplate rather than the plastic backplate. The website does say that the XP-120 is fully compatible with the K8NSNXP-939. After a quick look at the pictures it looks like the boards layouts are pretty similar if not the SLI having more space around the CPU.

Take a look:

Gigabyte GA-K8NXP-SLI
Gigabyte GA-K8NSNXP-939

Trying to see if anyone in this forum could help.

X120 does fit the K8nxp-sli, but the slot in card for dual power heat sink gets in the way. The only solution is to remove the heat sink and shave 5mm off it. I have had no defects from doing this and the xp120 provides extra cooling not only for the cpu but the surrounding area. This maybe a bit drastic and will effect your motherboards warranty.

Yeah, the HSF should fit without a problem and taking off the stock bracket and backplate isn't hard, but that Gigabyte DPS card will likely get in the way.

I called them, they said it will fit but will not work with the DPS. So now the question is do I need the DPS or not? Are there realistic gains?
