Hey everyone!

Alright so this is exactly what I did, the outcome is my WD250gig SATA2 drive doesn't respond.

I flashed the motherboard bios to version .f4 which is the one to recognize the x2 Athlong 64 family. After installation, I shut down the computer. disconnected my floppy drive and installed an IDE drive. Then rebooted. uh oh, boot up doesn't go past "Verifying DMI Pool Data................. Update Success". Then the "NVIDIA Boot Agent kicks in and does nothing but show me copyright dates.

and that's it, that's the extent of my boot.

I've noticed something new though, something about a SiI 3114 SATARAID Bios version 5.1.39 I don't know if it was there before but looks new to me. maybe it's trying to pick up my drive as a raid only? I dunno, within the settings of that it shows no physical drives.

I've also tried booting from a dvd and that works, I tried to re-install winXP but the setup doesn't detect any drives. I also tried switching from sata2 to sata cables to see if that works. all I get is a 125 error message from within the SiI 3114 sataraid dialog saying.

anyone have any ideas what i could do?
oh yeah, i've also tried flashing the original bios and same problem. I've also booted from my backup bios (because I have dualbios) but same problem. I've even tried using all the sata/2 ports.

your help is apreciated!
thanks!!

Did you load the SATA drivers through the F6 key during the Windows operating system installation?

Try preparing the drive with WD's DataLifeGuard disk preparation utility.

well I tried the WD tool you sent me the link to, but all that did was instruct me how to plug in the hard drive properly. which it was already. I also tried to download their diagnostic tool for dos and ran that, that detected my drive and I proceeded to do a full format. after that was done, I rebooted the machine and still the same. I thought that perhaps a windows install would do something. but that didn't detect the drive either. So I ran the install again and pressed F6 to install the sata controller. which it did. but then didn't detect the drive again.

any other ideas? I'm fresh out.
I've even tried different sata2 cables to different ports but it's all the same.
