Gigabyte ga-g41m-es2l V1.0 Broke :(

I woke up yesterday to discover that my server was unresponsive, I had to hard boot it.
After rebooting I discovered that it'd just lock up at the bios screen.
So I went and swapped out every part I could with known working parts: cpu, mem, hd, vid, nic, psu
same result in all cases
reset cmos, tried the insert key, removing bios battery, etc.

It simply freezes right when it displays the initial post, can't get in the bios.
If I press del it'll say "preparing to enter bios" but freezes before it enters

Any ideas ?

So you've basically narrowed it down to the motherboard. RMA time?

Have you tried running it outside the chassis, in case it is shorting out somehow?

I havn't tried that
also I dunno if I can RMA it
I still have the original box, not sure if I have the receipt ... but I purchased it at some point last year
i've probably had it too long

Ok, I just tried with the motherboard out of the case and 2 different combinations of cpu/mem
same result 🙁

I had this happen once myself where hitting enter wouldnt get me into the bios.

i unplugged the cd rom and hard drive and i was able to get into the bios,i swapped the hard drive and cd rom sata cables and the thing was fine after that.

I tried that, my first thought was actually that the old 80GB hard drive had went bad
I tried with all drives, usb, and cards removed

i'm just gonna try to hold out for next month
running my server on an old athlon xp 2500+ from a backup

Just a few more weeks of waiting 🙂

hmmm apparently there is a 3yr warranty on the gigabyte motherboards
"Average turnaround time will be 2-3 business working weeks upon receipt"
it could take awhile tho ...
Guess I'll do this

thanks for the replies
