Gigabyte GA-EP45-UD3R NIC problem.

I just finished putting together with my box with Vista 64 Ultimate. Everything works perfect, except the NIC.

I triple checked everything in the BIOS, enabling disabling enabling multiple times. The NIC connection light in the back shows orange during boot up but then turns off when Vista loads up.

Device manager shows the correct driver but says it has a problem.

Help?

I've had a few issues with the Nic's on my EP45 board to (Vista86), I found that the only driver that works semi-ok is the one listed on the Gig's page. And updated versions from the Nic maker drop packets for a few seconds every few minutes. I'm not sure if its funky drivers or funky hardware...

I got it working now. I always download the latest drivers for the motherboard manufacturer's website, instead of using the driver cd that came with it.

Everything worked fine except the NIC. I finally deleted the driver and reinstalled it from the cd and it works. It does have a funky habit of not starting at times but a reboot usually fixes that. So far, great mobo except for this issue.

Worked perfectly for me. I just went directly to the site (pre board install) then downloaded them to my desktop. Uninstalled old nVidia drivers. Changed the board, installed new drivers.

I have the Gigabyte P35 board. I wonder if an upgrade would do much.
I upgraded from a Gigabyte P35 board. The main reason I upgraded was due to my 2 year old P35 did not support the 45nm Core2 processors.

I did see a decent performance improvement, but I also upgraded from a E6400 (2.2GHz) to a E8500 (3.2GHz), so that might have a factor in that.
