The motherboard just refuses to POST. I turn it on then it just recycles off and on. Until i turn it off manually.

  2. Full description of the problem and symptoms
This all started a few days ago after a 3 day trip. I would turn on the computer, and the thing would just recycle off and on. I connected a motherboard speaker, and i got some beeps. They were 3 short a pause the 8 short beeps. It was working fine before then.

  3. Did it work normally at one time, or has the problem always existed?
The motherboard did work normally at one time, but i'm not really sure what caused the problem maybe a short?

  4. Is the problem consistent and repeatable, or entirely random, or semi-random?
Yes the problem happens repeatealy everytime i power up the system.

  5. I already tried these steps:
    resetting the cmos: nothing
trying different ram sticks in different ram slots: nothing

  6. My software:

    • OS: Windows Vista SP 1
      Comodo Firewall

    • My hardware
      • Gigabyte GA-EP35C-DS3R rev 2.101
      • Intel e8400 @3.00 ghz
      • EVGA 9800 GTX
      • Corsair CMX2X1024-8500C5D ver1.2 @2.2V
      • BFG TECH 650 watt PSU

thanks for the help in advanced i was thinking about replacing the motherboard with a Gigabyte GA-EP45-UD3P and keeping the other parts for about another year or so.

I found this: Link

That guy had a similar motherboard and was getting the same beep code. In his case it turned out to be a CPU issue. If the CPU worked at one point I'd try removing it and then re-seating it and the heatsink.

I have just reseated the cpu and heatsink turns out one of the push pins was a little loose. however, the same problem still persists. but, instead there are no beeps now. I have the cpu, vga, 1 stick of ram connected.
