Pretty good deal. Looks like mobo and ram are within affordable price range for the Core 2 Duo platform. Now we just need the CPU price to come down. If I'm correct, E6600 price has not budged at all since release last year. Still around $300 as we speak.

Also...newegg is selling the P5N-E for $129.99 also. Which would be the better board?

who knows. One can hope for a 3.3 but aside from the divider I dont think there will be much difference. Theyve already said that it will support 1333 with a bios update.

Why buy and wonder if you're gong to get a Ver. 3.3 Ds3 when you can buy one without guessing.

ClubIT has a DS3 Ver. 3.3 for $125.88 + $7 shipping.

And, yes, it IS a version 3.3 just as advertised. Got one on Monday and is indeed a 3.3....going into wife's build.

Hey OP, how about adding some info in the thread title, or at least your original posting, to include nice to know stuff, like:

GIGABYTE GA-965P-DS3 LGA 775 Intel P965 Express ATX Intel Motherboard

That way, people know what a GA-965P-DS3 from Gigabyte really is, ya know? ;)

I think the OP presumes that people who actually would buy the DS3 already know what it is. Not everyone needs an overclocking motherboard, and most likely anybody who's looking for a socket 775 overclocker board has heard of the DS3, since it was one of the first 965 boards out.

Kinda like how the thread on the bad axe 2 doesn't explicitly explain that it's a socket 775 board in the title either.

FWIW, Newegg has it for slightly cheaper right now, $122.99 plus $6.13 shipping. Then again supposedly ClubIT is also really just newegg?!!? (this is just according to some poster at xtremesystems so don't kill me if it's not true) So if they have rev 3.3's most likely they're all rev 3.3's.

Hmm...another poster on xtremesystems said they thought it's the online version of some store known as PC CLUB. Although they might still be affiliated with newegg somehow...I'm so confused lol.

Apparently newegg bought excalibur pc though, I never realized that.

For the love of shazbot! For the record- NO - CLUBIT has NOTHING to do with newegg- thats the 3rd time I have seen someone say that. Its CHIEF Value thats related to newegg. As is evident by that they carry the same products. Seen Rosewill stuff sold anywhere else? ;)
Someone needs to delete/edit that poster at xtremesystems post because hes really causing a spread of mis-information apparently...

back on topic- so are their any easily overclockable C2d boards that are considered comparable to the DS3 v3.3 boards in the same price range? As this DS3 seems to be all the buzz, I would like to know if anyone here has any info on a competing comparable board... thanks

Geez, BIGFOOTPI, you'd think people would actually listen and learn sometimes. But I guess they cannot get the ChiefValue and Newegg connection down, despite both being the ONLY resellers of Rosewill.

As for PC Club and ClubIT....it may be possible, but I wonder why PC Club, on their website, and PC Club has an online presence, has such different prices as compared to ClubIT. Take this fabled DS3 motherboard. It's currently now $119 at ClubIT while PC Club has it online for $144. Now, I don't know about much, but usually a store and its online presence will be a bit closer in price than that. Micro Center, from whom I'd honestly never order from online after reading the crap everyone went through with the Intel 975BX2 motherboards, has the same prices usually in their retail stores as they show online.

For OC'ing.....while the DS3 is great, the Asus P5B series is also supposed to be as good or better. Since Asus has at least 3 variations of that board, differing with features it seems, I'd think the P5B-E should be just as good an OC'er as the P5B-Deluxe or Wireless WiFi versions.

um, chief and newegg are sister shops. They even share the same inventory and wharehouse packing labels. Exclusively carrying Rosewill products was just one undisputable example of inventory related ties. If an item goes out of stock at one shop they miraulously go out of stock at the other. I am not even trying to say they are owned by the same company (althought its probable/possible and been eluded to many times by others- ABS computers) but out of all the online stores, theirs are the two strongest related I have ever seen in my 5years of being a purchasing manager. I have been purchasing from newegg for years and chief since they opened and immediately realized they shared inventory with newegg (just as Nutrend did before ABS re-absorbed it). I know I can get the same product from both so I check both to see if one comes under the other slightly after shipping...
Was I wrong in any of my statements? no.
Is clubit related to newegg? no. Which was the premise and main point of my previous comments. ---------
EDIT- miscommunication resolved.

ps- regardless of all that, thanks for the input regarding Asus boards.
