I put everything together last night, when I power up the system, I get a rapid beep for like 3 seconds, it pauses for like 2 and then is continious non stop. someone had suggested to clear the cmos, my version of the board DOES NOT have the jumper, I took out the battery and replaced it, but nothing I get the same beeping error. Any other suggestions?

System configuration:
GA-8IRXP
Intel Northwood 2.2GHz
ATI AIW Radeon 8500DV
1GB Kingston Valueram DDR (2X512)
Creative Labs Audigy Platinum

as you can see, I spent all my income tax return on it :( so I have no $ left to buy other part to test it out :( so any help would be greatly appreciated.

Try reseating your RAM. Also, try booting it with nothing installed except your CPU, RAM, and VIDEO. See if you get anything different.

Tha187um, is the RAM by any chance registered? Check the cartridge the memory came in for the word "Registered". If it is, you have to return it for some non-registered memory, since the i845D chipset on the board cannot handle registered RAM of any kind (ECC and non-ECC).

BINGO the memory I have is KVR266X72RC25/512 REGISTERED ECC, Darn it, I e-mailed Kingston and they didnt say it wasnt compatible :( I havent tried the system yet, I'll try to get my hands on two memories that are not registered..

what is exactly registered memory? I thought registered was the same as ecc, I guess not!

everyone else, Thanks I tried everything else you all suggested :) Funny, I talked to Gigabyte last night and I told him the memory I had (I didnt say registered) and they didnt bother asking if it was or not... but Thanks mbf

Hey guys, I'm helping my friend put together a GA-8IRXP system for his mother-in-law-to-be. He had this same problem and I think the info in this post may have saved him (us?) a lot of troubleshooting. To the original poster: did using non-registered RAM fix your problem? Thanks for your help, especially to Tha187um and mbf!
