First post so hi all.

Does anyone know if the intergrated vga of the 'G' causes a performance hit?

The reason I ask is that here (Australia) the G model is actually selling for $20 less than the PE version.

Thanks.

The video ram of the onboard video "G" comes from the system ram. If you have 256mb system ram you will definately notice a perf hit

Video performance may be less depending on what you are using the system for, if strictly 2D graphics and internet surfing the performance benefit from going to a AGP card would be little over a more 3D oriented card. For 3D gaming a AGP card is the way to go.

If you have no intention of the using the onboard VGA feature you can disable it in the Bios and use an AGP card, and the system should perform as a 8IPE1000 Pro would.

Thanks.

I'm going to run a 9700 pro so I guess I'll buy the G version and just disable the onboard video. I have some serious questions on gigabytes price structure though.

In the US the G is the higher priced mb, something may be wrong if the G is less than the PE, it would be a red flag to me.

This isnt just one dealer with a lower price, I've looked at dozens of retailers from all over Australia and the G is consistently ~$20 cheaper.
