anything i should know about this board (Gigabyte GA-7VRXP)? im probably going to buy the parts for my system this week. Is the lack of overload protection a problem? Should i be considering a different board?

Before you buy the GA-7VRXP board, be aware that a LOT of users are having serious issues with this board (random system freezes, inability to run at 133FSB, not posting, etc). A lot of users were able to fix it buy upping their CPU voltage, but make sure you're aware of the problems before you buy it. Check the Gigabyte forum at amdmb.com for more info.

Also be aware that Gigabyte is going to release a Rev 2.0 version of the board towards the middle/end of this month which will include overheat protection and possibly fix the other issues, as well.

i have heard all good bout it
i am leaning towards it over all other KT333 (well the RVX version)

but my supplier said he has had heaps of dead ones returned though
said the V1 (?) has been better..

with that and what you said then maybe the Epox is the way to go, heard alot of good stuff bout that
plus it allows Mem and AGP voltage settings that the giga-byte doesnt

decisions decisions.........

well i guess ill just have to wait. Get the rev 2.0 of this board and maybe a t'bred or a really cheap athlon xp by that time. Can you point me to some info on the rev 2.0?

how much are the low end t'bred's suppose to cost?

I gpot one, and I am lovin' every minute of it. My 8kha+ was a total peice of trash compared ot this. My only gripe is the dip switch proc multi-plyer. The sound sounds like bunghole. Make sure you get rev 1.02 as the quirks where all worked out. I never had issues with the 133 setting not working. This is a sweet board. I got raid on mine, running 3 HDD's, a burner and a cdrom. I am also running a ennermax 330watt PSU(I heard the ennermax PSU's spose to suck, but I got no probs).

I am running a duron 1.2@1.4, never had heat probs, some said the temp probe did not work or was reporting a higher temp. I had this prob for a few weeks, and then it was a normal temp. I never get over 38c.

One question about this board I do have is does it have a pci/agp lock feature for overclocking. Can anyone who owns one tell me this? :)
