OK, I am currently buying this motherboard off of the FS/T forum for a very good price. Anyways, the only question I have is for those of you who have used the onboard sound. Is it any good? Are there issues with it? Does it hinder gaming performance? Thanks for the input.

Thanks. All I'm going to do is run my 2000+ at 166FSB. Don't want anything higher really. So, is the sound good? I can't find anything on the CT5880. Alright thanks for the help.

I used to own one and the onboard sound was alright. It's better than generic AC97, but you'd be better off using a Santa Cruz or Audigy or something. If you're not an audiophile or if your speakers aren't great you might not even notice the difference. I met no issues with it, and I noticed no significant drop in game performance. I'm sure there was one, but it sure wasn't noticable.

Alright thanks. Yeah, my speakers are pieces of sh!te and my cash flow is rather limited. So, it's all good? Thanks again.

yeah, i have this board now and i'll say i've never had a problem with the sound, it even sounds good in my Sennheiser headphones...better quality than other onboard solutions i heard so as long as you're happy with stereo instead of 5.1 everything's legit

I've had my GA-7VRXP for a while now and I love this board.

I used the OnBoard sound when my Audigy broke and I was pretty surprised. It sounded pretty okay (Much better than AC97). However, when I got my Audigy replacement and popped it in, it sounded so much better. 🙂
