Hello,

Does anyone own this board? How does it perform and is it stable?

Most important, does it support dual channel memory?

I plan to use a Sempron 2600 and I'm thinking of using one of the two memory modules

Patriot 2 x 512

or

pqi 2 x 512

It will work fine but it won't actually be running as dual channel. Dual channel is more a function of the motherboard and chipset than the memory. The only reason they label it as dual channel is that the memory is matched and made to work as dual channel in a mobo that supports it.

Yes 7NF-RZ nForce 2 does support dual channel mode. Go to hardwarezoom.com for review. There test using 2- 256mb Kingston pc3200. Overclocked Barton 2500+ to 3200+ using FSB400 setting. I have same board I'm going to use sempron 2800+.

Now I have a dumb question. Why do they always sell Dual Channel memory as a pair? If I purchase 2 x 512MB 3200 modules, and split them up in two different systems, (1-512 module in one system amd 1-512 module in another) will it still function as Dual Channel?

No.... you misunderstand.

You have Two memory channels on your M/B. When you use a single DIMM you utilize a single channel allow 3.2gb of bandwidth. When put the second stick in there it is like opening up another 64 lanes on a highway, effectively doubling the amount of traffic or bandwidth.

You ownt notice too large of a performance increase as the AXP is not as bandwidth starved as the P4 and can only "use" 3.2gb of bandwidth whereas a P4 can use 6.4 max IIRC.

They sell them as matched pairs because #1 marketing ploy, #2. Garaunteed to work together #3. Same Chips, same PCB same silicon piece.
