I have a ga-7n400 pro2, and worst among my complaints is the limits on overvolting. It was not a problem when I had a desktop 2200+, but now that I have a mobile 2400+ it is driving me crazy. The only options in BIOS are to increase vcore by 5% 7.5% and 10%. Starting from 1.45, this does not get me very high. I am stable at 2.4ghz, but know this will go higher with a little more juice.

Does anyone have any suggestions on how I can get the Vcore above that limited by the bios? Or to trick the BIOS into thinking this mobile is a desktop, or at least has a base vcore of something like 1.6?

Thanks

Wire trick it to reset voltage default higher, then you're +5,+7.5,+10, will be respectively higher.http://www.ocinside.de/go_e.html?/html/workshop/pinmod/amd_pinmod.html This will give you a guide to wiretrick, just select socket view, then default votage you want. Put a small u shaped wire in cpu socket where it shows.
I did the mod to default to 166 mhz on cpu, helped alot. Good luck and feel free to ask any questions.

Strands from speaker wire work well for this.

First, thanks for the advice.

I looked at the modded bios, but from what I could see there was no change to the vcore control. I tried the wire trick, but I think I did it wrong. I tried to connect the pins. Should I just put the wires in the respective holes on the mobo and then when I put the CPU in it will connect the wires?

OK, so I did the wire trick, but I got strange results. I did what the diagram said would get me 1.7 volts, but I ended up with 1.88. This is not due to increasing in BIOS because I have that set to normal. However, my proc is stable at 2.5 which is good. Temps under load are ~ 61 which is not so good.
