Hi, I just got the above mentioned items and when I boot up in post it states that it is a 1151mhz cpu athlon xp. I've upgraded the firmware to f8 and I haven't a clue why. Do I need to set jumpers anywhere?

Please help me I'm an idiot with my second AMD cpu since the K6.

Try going into the BIOS setup by pressing the Delete key after you switch on the computer. You should be able to do it from there.

im not very familar with that motherboard (never used one myself) but....

your cpu is 1800+ (thats a pr rating) your cpu actually is 1.53ghz

your cpu is designed to run on a 133mhz fsb, your cpu has a default multiplier value of 11.5

that means your cpu is designed to run 11.5x133 = 1530mhz or 1.53ghz
but your currently running 11.5x100 = 1150mhz or 1.15ghz

your motherboard supports both 100 and 133mhz fsb, but obviously its currently running 100mhz (easy to spot cause your cpu is running at 1150mhz)

to change the board so it runs at 133mhz you will have to check the motherboard manual, either it will be a jumper on the board itself that needs to be moved, or.... it will be a setting in the bios you will need to change (if you dont know how to enter the bios let me know, i dont want to tell you how to do things your already familiar with, hehehe)
