Gigabyte GA-6OXC mobo: i815EP chipset question

I first read about this mobo @ OCworkbanch.com in a thread posted in the forums by their SysOp/reviewer. Here is a link to that thread.

http://overclock.digiweb.com/ubb/Forum1/HTML/002344.html

sorry guys...cut and paste until i can figure out how to make a clickable link from here.

I also Downloaded a MS Word document about the mobo which i thought i got from that thread, but i cant find a link for it there. if i remember where i got it from, i'll post a link for that too. in the mean time i thought this would be an interesting topic to post here also...

lets start with the facts (and correct me if i'm wrong):

1) the "E" in i815E indicates that the chipset has ICH2 which supports ATA-100.
2) the "P" in i815EP indicates the absence of the i752 onboard video.

if you read the thread i provided from OCworkbwnch.com, you'll notice that Gigabyte's new GA-6OXC comes without the onboard video, but only supports ATA-66. It does not support ATA-100, yet they claim it uses the i815EP chipset. if any 815 chipset has no onboard video AND only supports ATA-66, wouldnt that theoretically make it an i815P chipset (that is "P, and not "EP&quot😉?

i had to bump this b/c nobody responded while it was near the top of the list. well i changed the name of the thread, so maybe some people will respond now that they know i have a question...

Seems logical. The graphics i752 part is located in the "North Bridge" while the ATA100 or ATA66 Controller is located in the South Bridge and are effectively independent of each other, so you might as well call the i815 without integrated graphics and ICH0 "i815P".
