Gigabyte G1 motherboards and the isolated usb ports for DACs

I put together my new system yesterday consisting of the Z170MX-Gaming5 and when I connected my odac to the so called isolated usb ports I swear the noise floor was lower on my headphones. Just to make sure I wasn't crazy I connected the odac to my server which has a gigabyte board as well but without those so called "special" usb ports and low and behold the noise floor was definitely higher. Is there another thing that might be going on or are those usb ports actually doing their thing as advertised?
