Gigabyte EX58-UD4P with RAID...

I have this mobo and when i enable RAID with the Intel controller for the 6 SATA ports it seems to disable all other that are not part of the array. So, if i enable RAID on those ports does that mean i disable all the others for standard SATA drives? This seems so silly. My K8N-Neo4 Platinum had specific port control. That is, SATA_0, SATA_1, etc can be set to RAID, while the others are not. Am i hosed?

You might try talking with someone who has this board as it just makes it easier for them to translate what you need to do. Of course your not going to see the other hard drives while in an array unless the others were set up that way, there are many options in that bios.
XS(Xtreme systems) has a thread on this board along with the other X58's too. You do know you can flash that mother board with the extreme bios right? I think they combined the different board threads, I could be wrong....

Out-of-array disks don't show up on usual places. They will, however, show up in RAID BIOS. Also they might show up if you go to 'Boot' tab, and check the drop-down menu from boot-sequence selection. Look through all of them till the bottom if there is a scroll bar. You might see the drive's model name along with 'SCSI' tag there.

Thanks for the replies. It seems that having RAID and non-RAID drives active *while installing windows* will not work. But after the windows install i was able to add drives and make them active like one usually does.
