Hi guys i have never put any Hard Drive in RAID configuration before so i need your help in doing this. Currently my OS harddrive is 64gb Solid State Drive and i have two additional Tera Bytes with exact same model numbers which i would like to put it in RAID 1. The Hard Drives are Western Digital 1TB Black FASL something.

TIA for any kind of help

1. This requires BIOS setting to enable the ICH10R Intel RAID Controller. You should find it in Peripherals setup in BIOS.
2. After you enable the RAID function, an additional screen will appear during POST. It will ask you to press Ctrl+I to enter the RAID bios settings screen. There you will have the option to Create a RAID array. Choose it, choose the RAID1 option and select the two western digital drives. NOTE THAT you will lose all the data on the two drives, so make sure you have a backup elsewhere.
3. You should encounter a problem with Bluescreens in your OS during boot. This will be caused by the lack of drivers for the Intel RAID controller. Your SSD drive will be affected by this too cause it will fall under the Intel RAID controller. A repair Windows installation is required so you don't lose your settings in Windows but also get it to work properly.
4. Since Intel ICH10R raid controller lacks battery backup you should be extremely careful when turning the system off suddenly or when power outages occur. The possibility of having to resynchronize the drives is high.

I hope this explains most of the activities but if you are new to creating and maintenance of RAID you might need some more info. Try searching "How to configure RAID with ICH10R" on Google for screen shots etc. Or write here again for further explanation.

Good luck and better ask if you have doubts instead of being sorry for losing your data ;)
