Gigabyte Ds4 Rev 2 speaker problem.

Using the onboard sound I can't get all 4 speakers to play at the same time.
Front is plugged into the green, rear in the black. I can go into the software and switch the ports (neat feature) and then the rear will play but not the front. This telss me it isn't a bad port on the motherboard but it doesn't help me figure out what is wrong.

In the realtek HD Audio Manager it's set to Quadraphonis and Front is checked, so is Surrou8nd. This is in vista btw. Any ideas?
