Gigabyte and Easy Tune...other software to run pwm modes from Windows?

I would of thought by now that they could have produced a stable application. I'm still getting random BSOD's from this app. I can tell when it's going to happen as I can hear my fans and pump spin up, meaning they are no longer following my pwm curve.

When I open Easy Tune I either receive an error or nothing is there...BSOD to follow shortly.

Does anyone know of a fix...other then not running the stupid app?

Don't touch it. It OC's largely by pumping up the BCLK, which Sandy and up don't like. I fiddled with it a little until I realized why it was crashing my system. It does have a nice voltage monitor utility, though....

I only use it for it's PWM capability with the fans.

I too used easy tune for PWM fan control. However, I noticed that I was having a lot of S3 sleep problems (difficulty with the PC returning from sleep). After uninstalling easy tune, those problems have gotten a lot better, but aren't perfect. If you're getting BSODs, the first thing to assess is the stability of your overclock; are you really sure its a stable OC? After that uninstall the app, set your bios fan profile to silent, and see if the BSODs go away.

It's not an overclock issue. The BSOD's are specific to the Gigabyte software, specifically GDRV.sys. I have verified this by running the driver verifier utility within windows...and every time it crashes.

I'm just looking for another application that will allow me to use pwm from within windows as the bios options are limited.

I'm in the same boat as Tweakin. I've got a Gigabyte motherboard too, and I don't want to use EasyTune to manage the fan speeds.

I've used SpeedFan in the past, but its old and is tricky to setup properly. It's also been a bit buggy for me. I'm interested in an alternative aswell, since the BIOS options for fans for my board (Z87X-D3H) are quite limited.

Well, there is no alternative to Speedfan and I doubt there will be. Supporting so many motherboards is a gargantuan task and I don't think anyone else will be crazy enough to try and do it.

Maybe you should try it again. There is nothing buggy about it for me and setup is easy enough. And if there really is a bug, report it at Speedfan forums.

Also, hope reviewers will finally slam manufacturers for limited bios control so that maybe one day they will improve it.
