This motherboard says that it support up to 2400 speed memory. I have been told that this is irrelevant, even if it does as the memory controller on the A series APU's won't run that high.

Currently I have a 3870k with Ballistic 1866 memory, running at 1866. I am after just 3-4 extra FPS to make Diablo III smoothly and did consider buying a discreet card or a 6670, but I can get 8gb of 2400 speed memory for £25 secondhand off a friend and probably sell my old sticks for that too.

Anyone had any joy running memory over 1866 on this board ?

running higher memory speeds with the lynx platform is tricky as it lacks the higher dividers.
Running 133 bclk on these things messes up many things (sata, vga, sound, usb, etc.) and I wouldn't recommend it.
Your best bet is to run 1866 with the tightest timings you can unless you are willing to make sacrefices.
Also i've tried 4 different llano cpu's in that motherboard you mention, they don't overclock very high (3.2-3.4GHz is the ceiling for 24/7 stability, and 800 nb seems to be about the max). This is likely due more to the limitations of the 4+1 vrm.
Also i've tried the samsung low voltage mem in my UD2H and can confirm it is incompatible and unstable. Gigabyte needs to upgrade the bios for that, but i'm too annoyed to bother emailing them.

After experimenting with most every setting including 2133 mem and the highest cpu overclocks I could get, i've pretty much grown tired of the nonsense and just run stock now with the mem at 1600 + tight timings.
