Gigabyte 965P DS4 DOA ?

Perhaps pros around here can notice my problem easily, to me it is a mystery. Sorry if this has been covered many times already.

It's not booting into bios. Power comes on, all fans start but monitor stays blank. Could this be a dead board, memory issue or maybe even a dead processor?

This is my first intel board and I'm a worried about how tight the loading plate, once closed, pushes the processor into it's slot. One of the steps I will take later is check if the pins under CPU are still okay.

I have tested with two video cards and they both work in my older system. I have tried with two ram sticks in and with just one. The ram I have should work on this board accorrding to a memory thread on Xtreme Systems forums - even though it's default voltage is 1.9V and the DS4 has 1.8V as default. I don't have other memory to test with. PSU (revision A4) should be fine as this is no Asus board(reported problems with older PSU revisions).

I have the following:

Gigabyte 965P-DS4
Conroe E6400 & Scythe Ninja+
Corsair Twinx2x2048-6400 2GB 1.9V
Antec Neo HE 430W (ver. A4, the latest)
Asus 6600GT / Sapphire x1900xt
Seagate 7200.10 200GB

Thank you kindly for any advice. I'll try clearing the CMOS next.

Try getting some other slower ram to test in there. I had the same issue with my DS3 and pc6400 ram. I tried putting in some slower ddr2 ram to test with and it posted and booted up without a problem. That's about the only way to tell whether it's the mobo or RAM.

PS: I you don't have any slow RAM around, 'rent' some from BB or another store with a decent return policy. Just make sure you return before the return period is up.

Hi sleepyghost, did you have any luck with your problem? I'm experiencing the same thing. Power comes on, fans spin up (inc. CPU fan) but a blank screen on my display. I have:

Gigabyte 965P-DS4
Conroe E6400
Corsair Value Ram VS1GBKIT667D2 (DDR2-667 2x512MB)
Asus 7300GS PCIE
Antec Neo HE 430W
Seagate 72100.10 250GB

I've disconected everything that's not required to reach a startup screen, but still no joy. I'm not sure how to narrow it down to one component.

Thanks for any help.
