Gigabyte 965P-DS3 problem

I'm using a Gigabyte DS3 and 2 IDE hard drives and 1 IDE burner.

I know that the DS3 has only 1 IDE port on the mobo so I bought a IDE to Sata converter thinking that I could use either 1 of the HDDs or the burner on the Sata connection.

This has brought me much misery as I can not, for the life of me, figure out why only the items on the IDE port shows up.

I've tried a lot of bios settings, switching around jumpers, putting HDDs on the Sata, putting the burner on the Sata. All have left me with no results.

Any suggestions?

I've only had problems with those things. Try picking up a PCI IDE card instead.

that is probably my next course of action though I am still reluctant considering I bought 2 ide adapters and a 4 pin molex splitter.

I tried that, the burner itself responds as in it'll open and close but it is not detected by the computer at all.

Try replacing HDD or Burner for SATA one. It would be probably the same price like the PCI IDE controller. I can not imagine you having larger than 320GB IDE disk. 320Gb SATA disks are like 50$ more or less. So what;s the point in buying PCI IDE card?
