Ive just assembled my latest PC based on a Gigabyte 8PE667 Pro and on booting it wont go. Ive stripped out every card and cable and still nothing.
Its got a P4 2.4B in it, 512mb of samsung ram (both brand new), the atx12v and the usual large atx cable is plugged in, plus the power on, reset cables & speaker on - thats it, nothing else is connected. No beep on startup, and if I connect my Radion 8500 theres no video at all.
The PSU was from my system that i just removed from the case to fit this in and is a newer Q-Tec 550W jobbie and worked well with the old mobo/cpu
When power is applied, the cpu fan spins and the ram light comes on. If I remove the ram and boot, it gives the repeating bleeps (as it should) telling me theres no memory - so the speaker is ok.
Ive tried removing the mobo battery - nothing.
Any suggestions please? Im well narked about it - the shop the mobo came from is 35 miles away and is a dumb reseller unlikely to help on the technical side.
Thanks anyone that can help - why no beeps?
