I have upgraded my workstation to the following:
Intel P4 3.0GHz Processor
Thermalright SLK 900U Cooler
Gigabyte 8KNXP MoBo Rev 1.0 Bios Version F6
OCZ 4x256 DDR 3700 Gold Memory (2 x matched pairs)
Connect 3D Radeon 9600 Pro Graphics
80G Seagate IDE Drive + IBM 120G IDE
Sony DRU-510A DVD RW
Memorex CDRW
All SATA & onboard LAN disabled - for future RAID upgrade
ADSL PCI Modem - Conexant chipset
OS XP Pro SP1.
CPU Voltage set at 1.6v
vDimm set at +0.3v
Memory timings set at 2-7-3-3
I procured the board on the basis that I would run it at 233/466, a well documented setting for the processor/memory combination.
Currently the best I have been able to clock to is 215 without the BIOS crashing (continual beeping from case speaker).
Has anyone any experience of this board & memory combination and/or any thoughts - help appreciated.
Note there is also a conflict between the Intel drivers and the adsl modem. You can dial up to the ISP but I cannot access mail or websites. System restore to a point before the Intel LAN drivers are loaded is the only way to rectify this. This is the same for the drivers supplied by Gigabyte and the latest Intel drivers from the XP update website.
