I was wondering if anyone out there had problems with the gigabyte 81875 ultra mobo. At times the ethernet port uninstalls itself and then no matter how many times i try to install the driver, it says there is a problem with the installation of the software driver.

i stuck in a ethernet card to solve the issue. so my onboard ethernet port was sitting idle.

now recently the usb port had some issue, one fine day when i started my machine, it said something about new hardware and that the USB port had been found and where would i like to install the software from, i think for hooking up USB 1.0 devices it requires no software. since my keyboard and mouse which are wireless and hooked to the PC using the USB have no problem. i think it is USB2.0 which requires some additional driver which might be the problem

if you guys have seen the same and know what the solution is, please let me know.

I have a gigabyte motherboard that the LAN would not work at all. I tried numerous settings/configurations and finally figured out what the problem was. For some reason the on board LAN does not like my older smc barricade wired router. I know the router/port is working. I have an 8 port switch that plugs into the router so I plugged my pc into the swithc. Works perfectly.
Not exactly what you are describing but you never know.

Not sure about the USB. Have you looked in device manager to see if something is showing a problem? Maybe go to gigbytes website and download the USB drivers for that mobo, uninstall current ones from device manager, reboot and install the new ones.

Just a thought.

I did the same thing. But what I was saying is that it ended up being the router that the cat5 was plugged into.
Is yours plugged into a router?

previously i had it plugged into a 4 port device(not sure if it was a router or a switch) and it gave up on me after some time.

now i tried to plug it into this proprietary wireless MODEM based on UMTS TDD, and after some time it gave up.

hey i have taken some pics of my device manager, can i not post images on anandtech?

i checked out my system manager and can see a lot of USB entries. it is all greek to me.

even my video controller does not seem to have its drivers installed. is video controller the same as video card, then in that case i am nto getting max performance out of my card as well, correct?
