have just upgraded my mobo from a MSI KT3 Ultra to the Gigabyte 7N400 Pro 2. The problem I am having is that my AMD 2500+ is now running 10-15 degrees C hotter (38-43C vs. 50-58C) and the core voltage is registering 1.70-1.74 on standard settings 11x166. Shouldn't the voltage be down around 1.65 for this processor? I am using the latest BIOS upgrade (F5) available from gigabyte.
On the review of the 7N400 pro it was stated that there are voltage settings in the BIOS adjustable in 0.25 increments. I can't find them on the Pro 2. Even after using gigabytes CTRL-F1 trick (why not just put these settings right up front!!??) If the settings on voltage are not available on this board, why did they change from the 7N400 Pro.
Everything on this board came off the KT3 so I am not sure why the differences in temp, voltage etc. I debated between this board and the MSI K7N Delta ILSR. I have had great success with MSI but decided to go Gigabyte this time...may be a big mistake. On the KT3 I had the Barton running above 2800+ and hadn't even really started to tweak it.
Here is a list of system components
Gigabyte GA-7N400 Pro 2
Barton 2500+ w/cooler master HSF
1 gig pc2700 (dual channel mode)
120 gig Maxtor HD
TI 4200 128
CDRW
DVD
Any thoughts? I have searched all all nforce and gigabyte forums and have seen a lot of posts on temp but none on voltage. I know there is a setting to increase the voltage by 5%, 7.5%, and 10%. Not very helpful if the voltage is too high to begin with.
